What separates the successful people from the unsuccessful people?
It is the ability to stay motivated. Someone who reaches their goals is someone who does what they have to do to achieve their goals even when they don’t want to. Even when they are tired, sick, didn’t get enough sleep, they still work and they still push forward. You know why they do this? Successful people don’t quit, they don’t stall, and they don’t procrastinate! How do people successful people stay motivated? How do they keep the momentum and energy when they are too tired to care? Let me share with you how.
Right now, I am writing this to you from my bed. I am sick and all I want to do is sleep. I have a sore throat, a heavy congested headache and my muscles are tense and sore. Why in the world would I want to work at such a time? Mind you, no one right now is reading my blog. Yup, that’s right not 1 person at the time I write this is on my blog. Why bother then? Why even write if it doesn’t matter? When I post this at my promised time, 9:00 pm, no one will read it until later down the road when I have a million views a day. So why do I care enough to continue to write? Because I know that one day I will have 1 million people reading my blog. I know that they will be counting on me to post my article at 9 pm on Monday evening and I know that today will have attributed to that success.
Good habits breed success
It doesn’t matter if no one is looking at my blog. I didn’t only make a promise to my future readers that I would post an article every Monday at 9 pm. I made that promise to myself as well. Consistency is important for achieving goals. I have big dreams and goals that matter to me more than sleep matters to me. I have dreams that will only happen if I do what I say I’m going to do. That is the difference between a dreamer and a doer. The dream wants but doesn’t work the doer dreams and makes those dreams into reality by setting deadlines and goals. I know that if I can consistently post my articles when I say I’m going to that my readers will come and they will come every Monday at 9:00 pm
My Goals are Important to me
Not only are they important but they feel crucial to me, they have a sense of urgency that makes me work no matter the circumstance. If your goals are important you will do whatever it takes. In order for something to be important to you, you have to be very clear about what it is that you actually want. Sometimes we believe that we have goals but, in fact, there is no substance behind these goals. It is so easy to say I want to be rich. Well, why do you want to be rich? What motivates you to want to be rich? The deeper you dig into these questions the more you will realize you don’t actually want to be rich you just want to have enough money to pay your bills. This is the core reason why you can’t get motivated because there is no real backing behind your goals. You have to be very clear with yourself. What do you want? Why do you want it? What are you willing to do to have it? What difference will it make in your life once you achieve it? Answer these questions figure out what you want and if it is important enough to you, you will do everything in your power to get it.
Tired is Just Another Word for Lazy
Yes, there are times when we are absolutely and totally exhausted. When our brains won’t function and they feel mushy inside our heads. I’ve been there, I felt this way. Sometimes we need to say, “okay this can wait until tomorrow”. That is okay, that is part of being human. What isn’t okay is coming home from work every day and saying I can’t do this today I’m just too tired and you turn on the tv and you ignore your goals. That isn’t tired that is laziness. Another great excuse that people love to use, “I don’t have time”. This is a synonym for, I am too lazy. Know the difference between too tired and too lazy. Are you physically and mentally capable of doing something that will get you closer to where you want to be? If the answer is yes, you aren’t too tired, you do have time, stop making excuses, stop being lazy and get your butt to work.
