I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about negative energy and the effect it has on our subconscious. We all experience negative energy whether it comes from the people around us, space we’re in, or just generating it ourselves. Negative energy can fester and become a problem in your life. All of a sudden bad things just keep happening to you and you don’t know why. This could come in the form of sickness, money trouble, relationship problems, or anything that is causing you stress and anxiety. It might be time to give yourself a mind cleanse and clear your thoughts of any negativity so you can get your life on track.
Clean your Living Space
I believe there is a direct correlation between the space you live in and what is going on in your life. When my room is an absolute mess my life usually reflects that. Even when I’m not sure what my mental state is all I have to do is look at my room and it shows me. Cleaning your living space is like cleansing your soul. Everything feels better, smells better, and looks better. Today I cleaned my room. I put all my winter clothes away and took my summer clothes out. I decluttered everything and I cleaned my makeup brushes. It took a couple of hours but when I was done it felt like a breath of fresh air.
Get Close to Nature
This is a sure fire way to clear your mind and start to feel good. Scientists have studied the benefits of getting close to nature and have found that “there is mounting empirical evidence that interacting with nature delivers a range of measurable human benefits, including positive effects on physical health, psychological well-being, cognitive ability and social cohesion”(Keniger). Take a walk through the woods, garden, take a hike, or go to the dog park. Do something to get into the sun and get some fresh air to revitalize your mind.
Be with Positive People
People’s energy rubs off on you. It may be why you are cleansing your mind of negativity in the first place. If you are around people that complain, are unhappy, or just have bad energy then you need to surround yourself with different people. Find a friend that makes you feel good. Think of someone who makes you laugh non-stop whenever you are with them. Those are the friends you want to hang out with. It will suck the life out of you if you are around people that are negative all the time. Find the happiest person you know and let their energy rub off on you.
I see exercise as a form of meditation. When your blood is pumping and your heart is pounding all you are focused on is your body and it is the only time I feel one with myself. I can feel my body and mind connecting on a higher level. I was never a runner but one day something clicked inside me that made me love it and it became like meditation for me. Even studies show that exercise can be just as effective as meditation, “Anxiety symptoms and panic disorder also improve with regular exercise, and beneficial effects appear to equal meditation or relaxation”(Paluska). Some of us hate the idea of exercise, but it is only because you haven’t found what works for you yet. When you find the exercise that makes you feel so powerful and so energized then you can’t help but love it.
Realign with Energy Crystals
I have a real fascination with energy crystals because I love everything they stand for. I can’t tell you whether or not they harness the power of the universe to bring you good fortune, power, health, or energy. I can tell you that they focus your mind on these things. When you hold the energy crystals it is a reminder. You know what they stand for and what their meaning is, so you focus on those meanings. When you are actively thinking about what you want in life, and you are thinking about your goals and being positive, then that will reflect in your state of being.
More importantly, read something you like that makes you feel good. Read “Chicken Soup for the Soul”, “Conversations with God”, these books are uplifting and motivating. Read more than you watch television because it helps to focus your mind and really engage with what you are doing. When your watching television you’re not really thinking or engaging with anything. The more you focus your energy on what you are doing and what’s going on right in front of you the more control you will have over your state of energy.
Cleanse your Diet
Sometimes it’s not what is going on around us but what is going on inside us that is bringing us down. Maybe you are feeling negative because you aren’t taking care of your body. The foods we eat can impact our mood. As Hippocrates once said, “Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food”. There is a strong correlation between what we eat and how we feel. If you aren’t feeling so great change your diet or go on a cleanse. I like the kind of cleanses where you stick to one thing for a set period of time. Such as 3 smoothies a day for 3 days or just vegetable and fruits for a week. By the end of these, you feel rejuvenated.
